🥳 50th poem! 🥳

as the sun breaks through branches
of rows of trees gone bald
its soft warmth gently brushing off
the morning autumn cold
i never knew i was this rich
as I struggle my daily battle
of matching key with lock
my doormat decorated by
conquests of neighbour’s cat
i never knew i’d feel at home
as i tuck my nose into soft bodies
and feel their warmth in mine
my pets asking for attention
to which i happily oblige
i never knew i’d feel this free
as he swirls me through the room
showing me every corner twice
looking for my hands to hold
sharing kisses as we dance
i never knew i’d be so loved
