Everyday Life | Life’s Incomprehensibilities (pt. 4)

Nope. Not even turning 40 has made me any the wiser on some things.

Here’s 10 more completely, utterly incomprehensible things I feel exist in life:

  • Kids who kick the front door for fun – What is wrong with them? What happened to ringing someone’s doorbell and run away? Why do kids nowadays disregard other people’s belongings as much as their own safety?
  • Why teenage boys’ bedrooms always smell like cat litterboxes – I used to clean for a living and it always struck me as odd how cat litterbox-y bedrooms owned by teenage boys smell… Like: what do they do in there to make it smell so dull?
  • Ding-dong ditchers – Okay, so it’s better than kicking someone’s front door in, but what is the rush, really? You ding, it goes dong, you rung along 🤷‍♀️
  • Kids who very loudly announce they’re about to play ding-dong ditch on your doorbell – I have no words. Just a lot of questions and some tears 😂
  • Crochet – I will never in my life be able to crochet anything. I don’t get it! How do you make anything other than a long woolly worm? How do you shape the string??

  • Streaming YouTube onto my TV and then reverting my TV back – Okay, so I’m not very good with media and all that. I always somehow make it work, getting my TV back on to the regular channels, but don’t ask me how. I just click tons of buttons and shout a lot.
  • Why my one gerbil alwasy insisted on burying his water bottle under his bedding – Gosh, I’ve started this list a long time ago… My last gerbil passed away over 3 years ago. Still, I never found out why I had to rescue this little furry friend from dehydration on a daily basis – usually multiple times a day. He kept doing it, burrowing his water bottle, only to then put on a sad face and act surprised he couldn’t drink any more.

    …

I miss Dorian. I miss all of them, really.
  • People who climb the Himalayas – Why? Have you seen how high those mountains are? Do you know how many people die each year trying to… climb up in life in this specific way? All I’m saying is: don’t call me to do that.
  • People who run marathons out of their own, free will – WHY? Oh my goodness, I once finished one, it was hard work, I did not like it one bit, and if anything it sincerely made me question my own sanity for doing it and everyone else’s for the same reason. It’s not fun! It’s hard work! Why do people enjoy it??
  • Castanets – How do they work? I mean: how do you get them to work? I’ve never been able to… Beats me, really. No clue.

Some things, I suppose, aren’t meant to be understood. At least not by yours truly.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is to stop trying to wrap your head around something and just sit back, relax, and have a sip of your favourite drink instead.

Enjoy the silence in your head and the peace in your heart.

Cheers, everyone! 🍷
